Christians have been pushing the Rapture doctrine for over 100 years. Now Christians do know that the word rapture does not appear nowhere in the English Bible. So, what does rapture means? Rapture: A feeling of intense pleasure or joy. The word rapture is describing a feeling, an emotion, not an event. What Christians keep calling a rapture is actually, and has been called a gathering. Their are several gathering that is mention in prophecy. Here is a list of gathering that is mention and their citations. The Gathering of Israel So tell them what I, the Sovereign LORD, am saying. I will gather them out of the countries where I scattered them, and will give the land of Israel back to them. -Ezekiel 11:17 GNB The Gathering in Jehoshaphat Valley I will also gather all the nations together. I will bring all these nations down into Jehoshaphat Valley. There I will judge them. Those nations scattered my people, Israel. They forced them to live in other nations, so I will punish those nations. They divided up my land. -Joel 3:2 ERV The Gathering of the Selected of Israel Soon after the trouble of those days, the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; and all the peoples of earth will weep as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other. -Matthew 24:29-31 GNB The Gathering of Israel and the Purging of the Rebels of Israel As surely as I, the Sovereign LORD, am the living God, I warn you that in my anger I will rule over you with a strong hand, with all my power. I will show you my power and my anger when I gather you together and bring you back from all the countries where you have been scattered. I will bring you into the Desert of the Nations, and there I will condemn you to your face. I will now condemn you just as I condemned your ancestors in the Sinai Desert, says the Sovereign LORD. I will take firm control of you and make you obey my covenant. I will take away from among you those who are rebellious and sinful. I will take them out of the lands where they are living now, but I will not let them return to the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD. -Ezekiel 20:33-38 GNB As you can see, their are several gatherings that is mention in the Tanak, or what so many call Bible. Now if this your first time ever hearing about any of these gatherings, then you may want to ask your pastors or bishops why havent they mention them?
