Christians who are often responsible for causing or allowing much of this destruction. They have within their own souls "false dichotomies" that seem to "justify" their participation in these popular aberrations. Pope Benedict does not let politicians who are Christians off the hook. "When Christian civic leaders sacrifice the unity of faith and sanction the disintegration of reason and the principles of natural ethics by yielding to ephemeral social trends and the spurious demands of opinion polls" great damage results. The Pope here reminds civic leaders that they can and should be leaders for what is indeed true and honorable. Why else be in public life? May God Almighty bless you in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
