Christina Edkins parents show their support for the West Midlands knife surrender campaign. The parents of Christina Edkins, the schoolgirl who was fatally stabbed on her way to school last year, have urged young people to support an ongoing knife surrender campaign across the West Midlands. Christina Edkins, aged 16, sadly died after being stabbed, on the number 9 bus on Hagley Road, as she travelled to her school, Leasowes High School in Halesowen, on Thursday 7th March last year. Purple was Christinas favourite colour and everybody attending the event was asked to wear something purple in her honour. The bin is located at near the rear car park of Tesco Fiveways on Ruston Street. The campaign has been criticised after a slow start led to just over a dozen knives being handed in, but supporters say the community based scheme will work. (Video: Peter Wilson/BBC Midlands Today)
