Christina S. Ferguson, 80, a resident of Pottsville, died Monday, September 9, 2013, at her home. She was born January 23, 1933, in the Buttermilk Community north of Atkins, to Cecil Garland and Salena Belle Wilson Smith. She was a 1954 graduate of Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina and married Ellis Dean Ferguson on May 28, 1960, at the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker, a Bible Study Fellowship leader for over 40 years and was a former member of the Erskine College Board of Trustees. She was a member of the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she served as a former deacon, Sunday school teacher, was a former Assistant Youth Director for the ARP Synod, was the current church treasurer, pianist and member of the Women of the Church group. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Selma Smith. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Dean Ferguson of Pottsville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cecilia and David Gray of Pottsville and Loretta Ferguson Cochran of Pottsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Amy Ferguson of Jonesboro; a brother and sister-in-law, LeMoyne and Jawanda Smith of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Christen, Courtney and Austin Dotson all of Pottsville, Wen, Leigh and Guy Cochran all of Pottsville and Eleanor and Luke Ferguson both of Jonesboro; and other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013, at the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve Irby and the Rev. Don Erwin officiating. Visitation will follow the memorial service at the church from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be private in Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville. Arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pottsville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Post Office Box 318, Pottsville, Arkansas 72858, Arkansas Hospice, 2405 West Parkway, Suite 3, Russellville, Arkansas 72801 or Bible Study Fellowship, 19001 Huebner Road, San Antonio, Texas 78258-4019.
