Christmas is a joyful time for most, but a most difficult time for - TopicsExpress

Christmas is a joyful time for most, but a most difficult time for some. As an attorney, heres what I sometimes see: 1) Christmas is ruined by drinking and driving. At this time of year, several bars have taxi services paid by someone else. What a great service, and, much better than spending the Christmas season in jail. 2) Christmas is ruined for children of divorce. Youre newly divorced. Your kids are spending their first Christmas without having their parents together. Thats hard enough. Dont make it worse. Dont compete with your ex on presents. Dont keep them from your ex. Acknowledge that this is difficult for all of you and make sure they get to spend quality holiday time with both. And dont malign your ex to the kids! They dont need that and it really wont make you feel any better. If perchance your ex is one of those people who doesnt care about their kids, just live through their absence in silence. Dont make it worse for your kids. 3) Grief can be tough at Christmas time. Many of us lost someone recently. Thats hard, especially at Christmas. Try to think about that for your loved ones. Theres probably several more I didnt think of. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2015!
