Christmas is about reflecting on Christ who came to the earth, lived on the earth, died, rose again, ascended to Heaven to seat at the right hand of the Father, and that He bridged the gap between us and God. This whole things about gifts, trees, festivities, and etc. is excess and unnecessary, yet some make it out to be a lot more by proof of retail sales, Black Friday, and how they act as a result. I never could understand why people would fight over a television and feel compelled to give their kids that new iPad or whatever they want when its all just stuff. I like technology, dont get me wrong, but its still unnecessary, at the very core, for living at its very core. People make it out to be essential to be connected via Social Media (which many times I wish I could have deleted it yet people would get upset for not being able to reach me), and I understand that gifts are expressions of love, but we also need to realize that we dont really need stuff. Im personally glad I have enough money for food, gas, shelter, financial aid and loans for college, that my car is maintained, a loving family that loves me and I love them, and that God is always with me 24/7 despite my shortcomings daily. We dont need as much as we think we need, and Jesus is my reason to celebrate Christmas, Easter, the holidays in general while using them to bond with family.
