Christopher is away to meet the islander aircraft this afternoon to pick up Eva a Fisheries Observer. As with all fishing vessels in the Falklands we are obliged to have an observer come out and check out our crabbing operation. Eva will observe Christopher and Ali at work. Checking that they only keep crab that are over the minimum size requirement and also that all females are returned to the sea regardless of size. I assume that she will also check Christophers crab returns. When we haul the lines we have to complete a log detailing the amount of crab in kilos that is retained for processing and the amount that is discard and returned back to the sea. Our discard is all returned back to the sea live to live another day. Eva is also doing a project on the Snow crab so she will also be recording information for her own use. Tomorrow looks like a good day for hauling pots so they should get a good 5 to 6 hours in and get all the pots hauled and re-set ready for more processing.
