Our award winning Claims Department is currently seeking applicants for an Outside Property Claim Adjuster (OSA) position in our Troy, Michigan office. The OSA professional is considered an integral component of the services that we provide for our commercial and personal insurance policy holders. You will be responsible for property loss evaluations and settlements on behalf of Chubb. Your investigations and evaluations will directly affect the claim resolution process for Chubb’s personal lines and commercial insureds. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: • Analyze first reports to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage for both personal and commercial losses. • Promptly contact insured, inspect and document damage and meet with insured or their representative. • Promptly and properly develop the file to provide accurate and timely investigation and loss analysis. • Maintain an active diary. Monitor diary to achieve timely development of files and timely disposition of claims. • Recognize and pursue recovery where possible. • Adhere to all statutory regulations and unfair claim practices acts. • Effectively communication with all internal and external customers. • Travel outside territory to assist other offices with catastrophic events. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Knowledge of insurance contracts. • Investigative techniques. • Knowledge and understanding of legal requirements and regulations. • Ability to work with a wide spectrum of people. • Ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers. • Ability to use Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word & Excel, and estimating software. • Knowledge of current construction methods and costs. • Ability to write own estimates and complete a dwelling and/or commercial building valuation. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Customer service orientation. • Strong analytical and negotiation skills. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Minimum 5 years of outside property claims adjusting experience required, both personal and commercial claims.
