Chunnaic min Cliseam fon t-sneachda (I saw the snow covered Clisham) was a poem/song composed by my late aunt Ann Lassen (Annag Choinnich Alasdair) after her last visit from New Zealand to Scalpay and Harris in 1980. The late Donald MacDermid of Scalpay was first to add music to the words, followed by Kenny Matheson of Luskentyre, but it was the version by Leverburgh lass Chrissie Cumming (MacVicar) that made the song very popular on Gaelic radio, especially on the Friday evening request program. This is the view Annag would have had of Cliseam when she stayed with us in 1980 - this one however was taken this morning, Friday 5th December 2014.
