Church Boss The Pastor is gone; it’s time for a new one to come our way, He has no clue, I’m the boss, and I am here to stay, He’ll come in with ideas about this and that, But I have secured my alliance with those who are rich and fat, Of course I will welcome him with open arms, I’ll gain his confidence and show him our country farms, I’ll even feed him at my own dinner table, I’ll regale him with stories and old wives fables, It won’t be long, till he dances to my string and song, If he knows what good for him, if not he’s gone! I give some time to get his feet on the ground, He’ll visit my friends, the ones he thinks need to be found, Clueless the new Pastor really is, I run this show, and I have the ideas, He’ll catch on sooner or later, I’m the head chief and the best baker, I control the money, and that’s all need be said, I sleep comfortable at night, on my silk covered bed, Tomorrow is the board meeting, and I cannot wait, The Pastor has His agenda, but I control the slate, I’ll show him who really is in control, I have been here forty years, and that’s no short stroll, His ideas are defeated before they are brought forth, My peers have agreed to this, right here on my front porch, In frustration, the Pastor announces his resignation, He can’t stand what he calls sin and stagnation, So sad, I thought he would have a clue, I am the church boss and waiting on a Pastor anew! -M.Wayne Earley
