Church service was pretty awesome this morning. My white pastor - TopicsExpress

Church service was pretty awesome this morning. My white pastor prayed for a peaceful resolution in Ferguson, Missouri and for justice to prevail in the senseless killing of the unarmed black kid. I personally have tried to ignore this story. The Trayvon Martin injustice had me so angry, I could not emotionally deal with Michael Browns death. As parents we constantly worry for the well being of our children. As parents of black males I can assure you that worry is considerably heightened. We know our boys to be loving and sweet. Even when they make mistakes, we know they will redeem themselves, if given the chance to. We also know there are individuals on the other hand who consider our black sons to be dangerous, invaluable, insignificant, and mere shooting targets. Last week I personally experienced my first blatantly racist incident as a lawyer. My clients estranged husband chastised her for hiring a nigger lawyer to represent her in their divorce proceedings. He further said her father had to be turning over in his grave knowing she hired a nigger lawyer. So as I am ignoring the race incident in Ferguson, I was forced to deal with it in my own back yard this past week. I join with my pastor in praying for justice, but I also pray for love and tolerance in lieu of bigotry and hate. Thats my Facebook Challenge.
