Cigarette packs say “Smoking kills” but I think they should say sth else: So I’m walking past an apartment building and 2 dudes are smoking cigarettes on what must be the 7th floor balcony. Birds are bickering in the trees around them and squirrels are squabbling down below. One dude finishes smoking and flicks the cigarette butt into the trees. Still glowing and billowing smoke, the cigarette butt flies right through the middle of the bickering birds and the birds freak out… like “red alert! red alert! DEFCON 5!” and they commence their evade and escape protocol. As they make their escape, the second dude flicks his cigarette butt and its burning embers rain down on the fleeing birds. When they get to safety the birds seem confused and upset coz they are chirping with agitation… they must have been like, “The prophecy is true. The fire from the sky has come. The gods are not pleased with us. We must make peace between us and atone for our sins!” Then the still smoldering cigarette butts hit the ground near the squirrels and the squirrels scatter… like “red alert! red alert! DEFCON 5!” and they commence their evade and escape protocol. But suddenly they stop and go back to what they were doing. I think the alpha squirrel must have said, “Guys chill out! I’ve told you 100 times, the fire balls from the sky are just smoking bird sh*t! The birds have been eating extra spicy Indian food again… chill out! So cigarette packs should say: Smoking complicates the lives of small animals!
