Cinder Video of her exploring the new enclosure! I know shes been dying for some fresh hay - and now shes got it! Sally/IBBR is the perfect (and best) place for her to be with right now - Sally very much puts forth emotional energy into healing her charges, and that is what Cinder needs now, as well as time and some rest/denning (hibernation). I think Cinder and her mother were separated during the fires, that Cinder, as a cub would naturally do, ran up a tree, and her mother had no choice but to get burnt or leave her so she did the latter. Her mother is still alive - we know this bc someone local IDd her after the fire in the vicinity. So finally when the smoke/flames got too much (it was the biggest forest fire WA state has ever had - took out 300 homes and 400 000 acres) Cinder must have made a run for it through the flames. When they found her she was crawling on her elbows because the flames/embers had burned right through to the RAW flesh on her paws. It looks like she has lost half her nailbeds on her front paw-claws, but the rest are growing back. Her ears are still scarred, but she is otherwise such a healthy looking bear - what a difference - do you even recognise her? Beautiful bear.
