Circa 2009. A textual exchange b/w me and the then girlfriend, before the screenshot technology. Me: Hey, do you have any travel plans next summer? Gf: Not at the minute. Why? Me: I was wondering....do you wanna get married and stuff? Like, you and me? Gf: Seriously? For real? Me: Yeah totally. Gf: No, I mean seriously? Youre asking this over text? How freaking romantic of you, Junaid. Me: Well, Im different. I guess you always liked that about me, no? Gf: *sighs* yeah. You think the odds will favour us? I mean, you know the situation. Me: Well beat the odds. Well make our own odds. Gf: Hmm. Okay, youre kinda cool so yeah I guess Ill take you. Me: Excellent stuff. So I have your details so Im gonna have my people talk to your people and well take it from there? Gf: Sure. Quite obviously it didnt work out but the point is, its so much fun to be with someone with a sense of humour. Less drama and it makes your life much easier. I hope youre happy wherever you are.
