City Council Approves Councilmember Parks’ Extension of the $50,000 Reward Motion for Information on the Death of Bijan Shoushtari The Los Angeles City Council approved a reward motion introduced by Councilmember Bernard C. Parks, to provide a reward in the amount of $50,000 for information leading to the identification, apprehension, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Bijan Shoushtari. On Saturday, August 3, 2013, at approximately 12:00 a.m., 17-year old Bijan Shoushtari was the front passenger of a car that was driving north on Crenshaw Boulevard approaching Vernon Avenue. A grey or silver vehicle, also traveling north on Crenshaw, pulled next to the car carrying Mr. Shoushtari. At least one person from the suspects’ vehicle began shooting in the direction of Mr. Shoushtari. He was struck multiple times by gunfire. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai hospital where he later died from his injuries. To date, detectives have been unable to identify the suspects responsible for the murder of Mr. Shoushtari. Bijan was captain of the football team at Hamilton High School and was going to start college soon.
