City Council and energy production I am distressed, but not - TopicsExpress

City Council and energy production I am distressed, but not surprised, at the City Council’s resolution against a wind farm south of our city. This is the same government entity that not too long ago was extolling the virtues of new production of electricity in the area. Some of the same council members that were so impressed with Las Brisas are still there. They were excited by all the possible new jobs and new power. It would help us grow, they said. Las Brisas was also not to be built inside the city limits, but they did not threaten to annex it. One begins to wonder if the huge amount of pollution in the proposed coke plant didn’t matter because it was on the north side of the city. The wind farm would only produce “eye pollution,” but it is on the south side, so it’s important. We have yet to provide adequate services to the areas annexed when I was a child. Let’s control our acquisitive urges and take care of what we have now.
