City Funding Request Update: I hope you have read, as we have read, that the City plans to increase our funding request to $280,000.00. They have worked to get our funding up from $230,000.00 and we are so very appreciative. We have made some staff changes, sold our older van and begged for money to help us get to the financial resources we need. With this additional funding Grand Strand Humane Society will NOT close. Our shelter and clinic will remain open to provide for our communities animals and all the unwanted, abused and abandoned animals we can within our budget. We will have to reduce the number of animals the shelter can accommodate and the over flow will go to the County Shelter. Hopefully, as donations come into us, this will change. In the meantime, so many have asked how they can help - donations, of course, and adoptions. Please help us get animals adopted so we can take in animals from the City Animal Control officers -- so they will not go to an over-crowded shelter that took in 11,000 animals last year. The animals of Myrtle Beach will not have much of a chance with such high numbers - our healthy, happy animals do not need to be transported to another shelter. Please promote adoptions. Thank you so much. Sandy Brown
