City On Our Knees Jesus Christ . . . is worthy of all our surrender of self to the Savior. We give it all up . . . and in return we get all of Him. This is what the Bible means to be “clothed with salvation” (2 Chronicles 6:41). This is what it means when it says to be “in Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:17). . . . He changes our countenance to reflect His heart, which is righteous. He begins a work in us that will transform our selfish desires into what He desires so that we glorify Him. He replaces what is most important to us with Himself, and He becomes the most important thing in our lives. . . . Jesus is bigger than life, so when He comes into yours, there is no room for anything that does not glorify Him. . . . You cannot offer Him a stool in the corner of your heart. When He comes into your life, it is because you have set yourself aside as you stand in His presence. In doing so, He will sit on the throne of your life and teach you His truth, and His Spirit will transform your spirit. . . . This is what it means to be a Christian. And this is the secret of living the Christian life—everyday faith, trusting Him every moment. Each day we renew our faith in God’s assurance that He will give us the faith to follow Him.
