City leaders celebrate completion of New Orleans East streetscape project. "These streetscape improvements will tie together additional city investments like the $30 million in improvements to nearly complete Joe W Brown Memorial Park, the $130 million New Orleans East Hospital which is currently under construction, and the completed $7.6 million New Orleans East Regional Library and $5.8 NOPD Seventh District Police Station," Mitch Landrieu said. Joe Brown Park, new seating and trash receptacles in the small park at the corner of Lake Forest and Wright Street, a new walking path on Lake Forest, installation of 140 additional streetlights and more than 350 new trees, and a dedicated bike lane on Read, Crowder and Lake Forest Boulevards. $30 million project funded with Federal Disaster-Community Development Block Grant funds.
