City offices to close at 11 a.m. Monday: Residents welcomed to attend services and/or stand to pay respects to Mayor Notte along procession route. Anticipating a large turnout at Mayor Richard Nottes noon Funeral on Monday, all non-essential City offices will now close at 11 a.m. to allow for ample time to transition to St. Blasé for the Funeral. The Sterling Heights Public Library will close at 11 a.m. but reopen at 5 p.m. for the day. Because of Tuesday’s general election, the City Clerk’s Office inside City Hall will remain open to the public from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m., which is the deadline to request and receive an absentee ballot over the counter. The 41-A District Court will remain open under a normal schedule on Monday. At the conclusion of the church service (approx. 1:30 p.m.), a procession to White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy, led by two police vehicles, a fire engine and a DPW vehicle will travel the route westbound on 15 Mile; north on Dodge Park Road; northwest on Utica Road; to westbound 18 Mile Road. “Residents have inquired about the procession, and I know the Notte family would appreciate the community’s support if residents choose to line the route to pay final respects to the Mayor, “Community Relations Director Steve Guitar said. Visitation will take place at the Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Funeral Home (36900 Shoenherr Road, Sterling Heights) on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 3-9 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 2 from 1 to 9 p.m. with a scripture service at 7 p.m. The Sterling Heights Police Department and Fire Department Honor Guards will conduct casket guard from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation Overflow Parking will be made available at Bethesda Christian Church (14000 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights) with shuttle service to and from the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Blasé Catholic Church (12151 15 Mile Road) on Monday at Noon with interment at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery in Troy. Funeral Service Overflow Parking will be made available at L.W. Baumgartner Park (13000 15 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights) with shuttle service to and from the church.Flags on municipal buildings have been lowered to half-mast until Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Sterling Heights Community Foundation and its Mayor Richard J. Notte Public Service Scholarship Endowment are appreciated.
