City police are warning residents about inheritance scam letters - TopicsExpress

City police are warning residents about inheritance scam letters that are being mailed to North Bay residents. Police say the public is advised not to respond to the senders of the letters. The writers of two letters received locally claim to be accountants from either Canada or the UK with inheritance money to give people following the death of very wealthy business magnate who shares the letter recipients family name. Corporate Communications Coordinator Marie Lugli says knowing the facts can help keep you from becoming a victim of fraud. City police say you can report a fraud in person at 135 Princess Street, by contacting them by phone or reporting the incident to the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre.
