City working to turn off fountain At yesterdays press - TopicsExpress

City working to turn off fountain At yesterdays press conference, Mayor D. Michael Collins asked for the city and its residents to conserve water for the next four days while repairs are made to the Collins Park Water Treatment Plant. Collins said the city would join in the effort by turning off the water fountain outside of One Government Center. This morning, passersby of One Government Center might notice that the fountain is on. (See the attached video.) A call into the mayors office provided some answers. Lisa Ward, the citys public information officer, said a request was made to turn off all water used for artistic purposes such as fountains (as well as city sprinkler systems, which also went off this morning) but it must not have made it all the way up the chain to the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, which owns the building. Ward said she is working on that now. The fountain is a closed system so it loops and doesnt drain water from the system, she said, but since the fountain is a public perception issue, the city is working on getting it turned off.
