Civ: Beyond Earth is exactly what I thought itd be, now to drag - TopicsExpress

Civ: Beyond Earth is exactly what I thought itd be, now to drag myself to bed at two in the morning with absolutely zero regret. I made a pan-Asiatic sponsored colony of artists focusing more or less on advancing humanity without really evolving it into a new species (no genetic supermen, cyborgs, or alien-hybrids thanks) while also pretty much respecting the native ecology, focusing on Science and Cultural development, and leaving the other colonies in peace as much as possible. Just to get a feel for the changes from earlier Civilization games. Its a lot of fun, Im a particularly big fan of the quest system - it creates a narrative while providing interesting objectives and teaching aspects of the game. I also like how the setup combined with the tech-web allows players to essentially construct whatever framework they want for their civilization - which makes sense, since its supposed to be about brand new societies on distant planets. Were it not for work tomorrow, I would not sleep tonight. I say this as someone who NEVER chooses to skip sleep. I pulled an all-nighter two times in my four years in college. Im the kind of person that values nine hours of solid sleep, and usually gets it. And when it comes to video games, frankly, I rarely get hard core about them...I havent really been stay up all night excited for a game to come out (that I wasnt working on) since Spore (years ago now), and that was ultimately a disappointment. Civ: Beyond Earth - so far - is NOT a disappointment. If you like the Civilization games, youll like this. If you like Science Fiction, youll like this. Thats all I can say for certain, but if you fall into either or both of those categories - I strongly recommend you look into this game.
