Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is a corporate body responsible for the regulation of Civil Aviation in Uganda. It manages Entebbe International Airport and 13 other aerodromes upcountry. CAA carries out its work in conformity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPS). The Authority now plans to recruit suitably qualified Ugandans of impeccable integrity and commitment to fill the following positions in its establishment. JOB REF : CAA/ADV/EXT/13/2014 POST : FIREFIGHTER-TRAINEE REPORTS TO : ASSISTANT FIRE OFFICER SALARY LEVEL : 5 VACANCIES : 10 AGE : 22 TO 30 YEARS JOB PURPOSE The purpose of the position requires the incumbent to participate in training and preparedness for fire fighting activities; actively instructional sessions in fire prevention within and or vicinity of the aerodrome; engage in Search and Rescue activities in the case of non - marine related accidents or disasters. The successful candidates will be trained in the following principal accountabilities: · Participate in training responses of simulated aircraft crash fires, fire alarms, airport fires and other related emergency situations in accordance with existing Emergency Policy and Regulations. · Ensures having the right tools and equipment when responding to those emergency simulations. · Records all reports accurately and disseminates the information promptly for appropriate action. · Maintains standby and ready status on hazardous work operations such as aircraft refueling or de-fuelling with senior firefighters. · Ensures presence with adequate tools and supporting personnel during refueling and de fuelling and other hazardous work operations on each occasion. · Ensures strict adherence to the standard operating procedure during each incident · Guided to Carriy out routine checks of equipment and appliances and adheres to the checklist and the approved schedule while checking equipment. · Carries out routine checks of the communication system to ensure that it is in recommended condition for use. · Ensures that all serviceable equipment are in place for use from time to time · Participates in routine physical fitness exercises is carried out daily to ensure readiness to attend to duties. · Maintains general cleanliness of equipment daily as per required regulations · Adheres to routine medical check-up program as per regulations. · Maintains a healthy team spirit between team members and other users to facilitate effective execution of duties. · Ensures attainment of all targets through full participation in fire fighting and prevention processes. EDUCATION Five credits at ‘O’ level two of which should be in English and Mathematics plus an A’ level Certificate EXPERIENCE Background in Fire fighting would be an advantage KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS  Must be Physically and Mentally fit  Must pass the CAA physical test.
