Civil War Trust Offers Teacher Resources And Student Contest WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Civil War Trust recently started The Teachers Regiment, a free program for teachers. The group serves as a forum and resource for teachers to share ideas, methods and resources, electronically and in person, in order to raise the level of historical education nationwide. Teachers enter at the rank of “private” and move up in the ranks by contributing to events, writing articles and peer-reviewing new educational resources. Promotions come with added incentives such as special tours and early event registration. The Trust is accepting registrations for the free Teacher Institute in Atlanta from July 17-20. It will include workshops with professionals and battlefield tours. Travel scholarships are available. The Civil War Trust continues to add to its collection of In4 videos — short, understandable explanations of significant Civil War topics good for classroom use. In addition, hundreds of primary source documents are on the Trust’s website at civilwar.org/education/teachers/
