Clarification regarding garbage collection in unincorporated - TopicsExpress

Clarification regarding garbage collection in unincorporated Brevard - The bid and contact had already been awarded and executed as approved by the board several months ago. In the end - Waste Management was the lowest bidder for the services requested. In addition, the waste disposal fee proposed is for homes and businesses in unincorporated Brevard County (those who live outside municipalities) only. Notices have been sent via mail regarding a PROPOSED increase in waste collection fees (up to - but not more than $25.00 per year). Unfortunately, misinformation is being disseminated that the increase has been approved. The increase HAS NOT been adopted by the Brevard County Commission! It must be voted on after a public hearing. The notices are to inform residents of the hearing as required by State law. Here is a link to explain the new curbside cart collection program: apps.brevardcounty.us/PublicInformationReleases/ViewRelease.aspx?ID=1495 Brevard County is also offering presentations to homeowner’s associations and other groups that may be interested in receiving more details about the program. For more information on a presentation or for any questions, contact Arena at the Brevard County Solid Waste Department at (321) 633-2042 or [email protected]. Beware of half-truths and misinformation that are apparently motivated by political ambitions. Andy Anderson Brevard County Commissioner District 5 Chairman
