General Pay Information: While driving, the pay scale is determined by the US Department of Labor’s, Davis- Bacon Act pay scale. Pay periods are at every two week intervals. Pay can be received in two ways. 1) Can be delivered to an address provided by you or 2) Be direct deposited into a bank account provided by you (recommended). In addition, under the US Service Contract Act, Health and Welfare clause an additional $3.81 per hour (subject to change by the US Department of Labor), will be added to your check up to first 40 hours in a week. Once an employee goes into overtime (over 40 hours), the Health and Welfare pay is no longer added to overtime hours and the standard overtime pay then applies. Amenities: Sleep: A bunk will provided to you in the Mobile Food Service bunk trailer should you so desire. You can get creative and set your own hammock in the area and sleep under the stars. Bring a tent and set up your own camp. Our tractor’s generator powers the whole camp, so bring an extension cord. Showers and Bathrooms: We have a couple of showers on our vehicles, but a full line-up of bathroom and shower facilities is provided by the US Forest Service on site. Laundry: We have an on board washer / dryer unit. On occasion, the US Forest service provides a full laundry service for all working on site. Food: In general, once you are in our vehicles and on the road, we feed you until you get back. Communication: Most of the time the camps are set up in an area where cell tower communication is available, but not all the time. The Mobile Food Service does have emergency communication capability, but again, only in dire situations. Staples: Please remember that you may be out in the field for a few weeks at a time, so bring enough of anything that you might need during that time period, such as clothing, medicines and so on. We do provide sheets for the bunks, but any bedding, pillows and other personal items such as wash clothes and towels need to be brought by you. There are usually opportunities to get into the nearest town on one of the company vehicles if you need supplies. Please remember that the Federal Government is our customer and our employer. We get both evaluated and scored by the representing officials and as of now, we are rated the second best Mobil Food Service Facility in the nation, so please, let your mannerism reflect that out in the field.
