“Clearly, Egyptian morality lacks neither high purpose nor nobility. It is a moral system which, like that of ancient Greece, aimed at shaping the good man. Pharaonic morality was not a moral system based on God’s commandments. It was a practical morality, or, to be more precise, an “eclectic morality.” It began by recognizing responsibility, then moved on to offer the training required to fulfill it. Its goal was the strict duty of living in tune with Maat, the combination of Justice and Truth, the supreme moral law. The constituency committed to this sovereign moral law was a body of free, intelligent human beings.” Theophile Obenga “African Philosophy: The Pharonic Period: 2780 – 330 BC” Page 202
