Cleator Moor Celtic prepare for pre season. With less than a week to go until the players meet back for pre-season it’s been a busy and eventful few weeks during the close season. The session planning is done and 5 friendlies are confirmed with a potential sixth still to be confirmed. A working party has been busy making sure the pitch will be ready for the start of the season and due to this only one friendly will be played at home, Blantyre Celtic from Glasgow will visit us on Saturday 20TH July kick off 2pm and they plan on staying into the early evening as well, more details on events for that day will follow nearer the time. Pre-Season will be a good mix of fitness and ball work, it’s important the players can blow off any cobwebs and get their legs moving to improve fitness levels but more importantly for me is that the players get to do plenty of what we are all here for, play football. Being fit is important but it goes hand in hand with first touch, awareness and technique. Rumors surrounding player movements has been a constant for me during the break and while it is frustrating when other clubs make approaches for our players it is inevitable given the talent we have at the club. Every player knows how I feel about them and I want them all to stay to meet the challenge ahead of us this season. We will continue to bring players into the senior teams from our youth structure and the squads managed by Les Mitchell and Michael McAleavey will be joining the senior players for pre-season. I cannot wait to get back with the players to start pre-season and regardless of player movements, in or out, Cleator Moor Celtic will be well prepared for the start of the Wearside League season come Saturday August 3rd 2013. Cheers Dene
