In late 2012 Chris & Chris were awarded funding from the EF-CDT to go to Nepal and make film highlighting the energy landscape in Nepal. Through interviews with those in charge as well as the people whose daily lives are impacted, this film asks the question: what is Nepals energy future? For those unable to make it to London, the film will be released online shortly afterwards. Energy Institute Young Professional Network: Value Creation in the Energy Industry Date: 9 April Location: London Three speakers from across the energy industry will share their experience and present how value is created in their respective companies: • Andras Mecser, Exploration and Production Strategy Manager, Centrica • Matthew Harwood, Group Head of Strategy, Petrofac • Karl Harder, Managing Director, Abundance Energy Does the car have a sustainable and ethical future? Date: 2 June Location: Cumberland lodge, Berkshire Energy Histories and Energy Futures Date: 8 - 10 July (call for applications deadline 16th April) Location: Lancaster University Summer School 2014 will focus on ‘Energy Histories and Energy Futures’, and will address a range of questions including: What is the relationship between infrastructures and the patterns of practice which make demand? How can processes of change be usefully conceptualized? and, how can our understandings of the past improve our ability to project, steer and shape futures of energy consumption? Applications are invited from research students, researchers, academics and practitioners. Participants, along with researchers and academics from the DEMAND Centre will be encouraged to consider the topic from different angles and disciplinary perspectives and to think about how the theoretical and methodological issues discussed relate to their own work. TB Macaulay Research Fellowship in Renewable Energy Applications are invited for a Research Fellow focusing on renewable energy; the post has funding initially for three years and comes with generous start-up costs. This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to take forward their own research agenda in relation to renewable energy while, at the same time, drawing on and consolidating the growing amount of research being done across the Institute on renewables and energy supply and demand.
