Climate Deniers (as used below) really baffle me. Skeptics I can - TopicsExpress

Climate Deniers (as used below) really baffle me. Skeptics I can understand, but the outright deniers are a different breed of evangelist. For example: Creationists I understand because they (mistakenly) believe my confidence in evolution tells them to not believe in God or the Bible. Anti-gay marriage I understand because they believe that is specifically banned in the Bible. Anti-immunization I understand because they believe they are saving their children from unnecessary harm. But what changes in their personal lives are the climate change advocates foisting upon the deniers that makes them so vitriolic? What liberties of theirs are we taking away? What beliefs of theirs are we denying? Were not telling them to stop driving cars. Were not advocating nuclear power over gas or coal power plants (or at least the deniers are not saying no nuclear in their online rants). The rather thin connection between climate change and not believing in God seems too tenuous to be taken seriously. The more I run into deniers on social media the more bizarre their approach seems to be. That someone may want to shoot me for cutting them off in traffic makes more sense to me than the stance the deniers take who would try to convince me that traffic doesnt exist in the first place. And even then such a hypothetical traffic denier would STILL make more sense to me at least because hed be all up in my face **because** I cut him off. A climate change denier (by comparison) seems more like the crazy guy who yells at you in a parking lot trying to convince you traffic doesnt exist, especially when youve done nothing to him.
