Clinton IGA would like to thank you for celebrating the HOMETOWN HEALTHY CHALLENGE with us! In January 2014, we had some fun with the “Dress Up Your Pet” Contest with our Facebook Fans. We had ten participants, and Chester – owned by Theresa Terry – was deemed our winner by the most votes. Our cook-off contest challenged our customers to see who could make the best pie. April Mathews was our winner, with Laurie Lovell following closely behind. We handed out free samples of Prairie Farms Greek Yogurt, Blood Shot Chili, IGA Chips, and celebrated National Popcorn Day with free bags of popcorn. The winners of our Movie Night Prize Packages were Glenda Bunn and Natalie Totten. We set up an IGA Information Table to help our customers sign up for our VIP Text Club and start an account on our website - clinton.iga – so they can receive our store newsletter, print-at-home coupons, customizable shopping lists, recipes and more. Our Info Table winners were Evelyn Joss, Lori Ellrick, and Mary Johnston. Sandy Hefler was awarded a TRIPLE PLAY MEAL for sharing our weekly sales ad. And our VIP Text Club members enjoyed a FREE loaf of 1 pound IGA White Bread coupon. During February 2014, Lori Rockhold Evans won a bouquet and box of chocolates after nominating her sweetie – her husband – who she said deserved to be pampered because: “In the last 3 years, he’s endured more than he should have to endure in an entire marriage. He’s my Super Man, who by his strength makes me a Super Woman.” Marian Brisard took home a box of chocolates for being a sweetie and sharing our Valentine’s Day flyer. We again hosted an IGA Information Table, and Malinda Evans, Mary Carter, and Donna Weaver were our lucky chicken dinner winners. For three days, we displayed the Hometown Healthy Fruit Basket at a Guess the Weight station. Justin Thayer was the closest to the weight without going over and took home the 14.3 pound fruit basket as his prize. Our furry customers were pampered with free dog or cat treats at the checkout lanes after their people said the magic words “Woof” or “Meow”! Our human customers were able to redeem a coupon for a free banana or clementine received the previous week with purchase. Plus, our customers were able to enjoy extra savings during the Love the Savings event, where IGA brand cereals, shredded cheese, potato chips, pasta sauces, microwave popcorn, and ready-to-serve soups were priced even lower to show our customers a little love! We handed out free samples of Prairie Farms Mint Chip Ice Cream and Wonderful Pistachios. Josh Weiss, Samantha Pearman Wilburn, and Billy Bishop were our SHARE THE AD winners for February. In March 2014, we celebrated Frozen Foods Month with fun facts throughout the Clinton IGA Frozen Department, as well as some fun with the Disney movie “Frozen.” Our FROZEN Sweepstakes was well-received, and the winner of our DVD/Blu-Ray Combo of the movie was Avery Smith, the daughter of Ashley Huffman and Eric Smith. Rachel Woolridge and Lisa Tabor both received a copy of the Disney “Frozen” soundtrack. We had a great response to our “Frozen” coloring contest, and had seven winners: Pre-K – Lydia Haurberg, Kindergarten – Halle Wrage, 1st grade – Amerie Hemphill, 2nd grade – Suzy Lowery, 3rd grade – Sydney Rausch, 4th grade – Katie Wherry, and 5th grade – Breanna Shofner. March was a double cook-off contest month! Our Peanut Butter Throwdown winner was Karen Maharas and her Peanut Butter Bars. Our Something-on-a-Stick winner was Serena Livingston with her Orange Ginger Shrimp & Veggie Skewers. We also enjoyed Take Care Tuesdays, when the University of Illinois Extension, Clinton Chiropractic Center, and Liberty Village of Clinton hosted information tables and giveaways in-store. We were so excited to bring back the Free Fruit Challenge again this year, and expand it to ALL elementary students in the Clinton public schools. Students each took home a free fruit punch card so they could enjoy a FREE clementine, apple, banana, and kiwi. At the end of the challenge, students turned in their completed cards for a chance to win a Clinton Maroons hoodie – and Grady Douglas from Washington School was our big winner! Clinton IGA visited Mrs. Tool’s 1st grade classroom at Washington School, where students learned ways to get their daily dose of fruit and sampled dried fruit and fruit juices! We enjoyed the Irish Blessings gracing our page during our St. Patrick’s Day Corned Beef & Cabbage giveaway. Melissa Peek was our winner, and she shared: “May good luck be with you wherever you go. And your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.” Clinton IGA enjoyed handing out samples of Prairie Farms Easter Milks, IGA Meat Department’s Own Homemade Sausages, and IGA Potato Chips during the Clinton Business Expo. Two lucky ladies won prizes at our table during the Expo – Alia Burton took home a Pick 5 Meat Bundle and Cindy Jette won an 8 piece Champs Chicken Dinner. Also during the month of March, Clinton IGA customers enjoyed four weeks of additional savings with our big Spring Coupon Book. And…our Clinton IGA Bakery kicked off their Cake Loyalty Program, where customers purchase any 3 cakes at regular price and get their 4th cake at 50% off. April 2014 brought in warmer weather – well, except for our day of unseasonable snow – and we welcomed it with open arms! We hosted several Easter themed events in store, including three in-store drawings and a coloring contest. Our Free Easter Basket boy winner was Jayden Hall, and our girl winner was Cheyenne Lingo. Our Free Easter Ham winner was Fritz Jackson. And our coloring contest winners were Riley, Miley Koyak, McKinley West, Drew Moser, Emmy Tally, Ethan Boyer, and Abby Harper. Earlier in 2014, Clinton IGA brought the Cookie Dough Café line into our store. We handed out samples of the products in April so our customers could see what the buzz was around this product created by two hometown gals – Joan Pacetti and Julia Schmid. The Cookie Dough Café was featured on NBC’s Shark Tank, and the product is now being distributed throughout the United States! We were not the least bit surprised by the positive response received during this in-store demo, and Jessica Devore won our drawing for a free tub of The Cookie Dough Café flavor of her choice. Our VIP Text Club members enjoyed a text coupon for a free bag of Davinci Pasta with purchase of any pasta sauce. We also handed out free samples of Spiced Easter Ham and Kretschmar Master’s Cut Deli Meats. We kicked off our Summer Grilling Sweepstakes, and already reached our first milestone of 1,200 “Likes” – which meant prizes for our followers! We awarded a free package of Clinton IGA Meat Department’s Own Homemade Sausages to Lorie Ragan Haynes. Free TRIPLE PLAY MEALS were given to Diane Green, Becky Woolridge Perry, Jim Woodbury, Stefanie Meyers, and Lori Edwards-Cole, as well. We wrapped up the month of April with the Palatable Pretzel Productions cook-off, where Amber Porter’s Strawberry Pretzel Salad took home the award for best dessert and Karen Maharas and her Pretzel Crusted Fried Chicken with Bacon Honey Mustard Sauce took home the gold for best entrée or side dish. Thank you to all of our customers, for celebrating the Hometown Healthy Challenge with your Hometown Proud Supermarket, Clinton IGA, Inc! We look forward celebrating our Hometown Fest with you, including new events, contests, and giveaways! We are ready for summer…bring it on!
