Clinton fixed the Reagan/Bush fiscal mess with some cooperation from Republicans. He had 3 or 4 balanced budgets (depending on whose math you use). Obama was handed a fiscal mess more than 3 times worse than what Clinton inherited and is reducing the deficit at an even faster pace than Clinton did, AND WITH NO HELP AT ALL FROM REPUBLICANS. Nobody thought we could balance the budget by 2017 in 2009, but if we elect a cooperative Congress next year, it could happen.
