Clinton, who was President when the Cuban Five were arrested and - TopicsExpress

Clinton, who was President when the Cuban Five were arrested and convicted, claims he wants Alan Gross release, but rejects releasing the Five: Nobody questions their guilt and what they were charged with. Gross was down there supporting a Non-governmental organization. We don’t need to spy on Cuba. So I don’t see how [the remaining three can be released], since two of the five people they wanted released have been released. Hard to believe a supposedly intelligent man (Rhodes scholar!) could actually believe such nonsense. Alan Gross was there on a government contract; he was no more supporting a non-governmental organization than were the Blackwater mercenaries in Iraq. And no one says Gross was spying on Cuba, he was there as part of U.S. efforts at regime change, as everyone knows. And, last but not least, René and Fernando were not released by some noble action of the U.S. government that warrants reciprocal action; they finished their sentences.
