Clive Palmer Breaks Silence on MH17 Tragedy The federal leader of the Palmer United Party and member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer, has broken his silence on the MH17 Ukraine plane disaster, offering his condolences to all the families that lost loved ones. Mr Palmer has also supported Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and his government for their decisive action and providing leadership for the whole world in the wake of tragedy. “All Australians support the Prime Minster and the Foreign Minister for the extraordinary steps they have taken to ensure the return of those perished and provide an impartial account of what actually happened,’’ he said. “Our hearts are with the families of all those who have lost loved ones as we try to make sense of this terrible incident.” Mr Palmer said the incident had highlighted the need for all passenger planes flying to and from Australia to be aware of the routes being taken. “All international airlines should be required by law to provide passengers boarding their flights with a copy of the route including which countries they will be flying above,’’ he said. “No airline should be permitted to fly over war zones or areas of armed conflict. “International aviation organisations and governments need to act now to ensure adequate protection for international travel and prevent any future loss of life,’’ he said.
