Clive Palmer appointed honorary VP of Maroochydore SLSC Member for Fairfax, Clive Palmer MP, has been appointed Honorary Vice-President of Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club in recognition of his support of the vital service the club provides to the community. Maroochydore SLSC, which was formed in 1916, was one of the recipients when Mr Palmer recently donated his parliamentary salary to local community and charity organisations. In accepting the honorary role, Mr Palmer said the club was a pivotal member of the community with a rich history. “I am delighted to accept Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club’s kind offer of the position of honorary vice-president,” Mr Palmer said. “The club has been around for almost a century, which illustrates just what an important role they play in keeping people safe in the water. “Their records show that in the 2013/14 season they performed 68 lifesaving rescues, 1781 preventative actions and 164 first aid cases, so their value to the community cannot be underestimated,” Mr Palmer said.
