Cloem, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, InDyne: Intellectual Property Cloem - TopicsExpress

Cloem, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, InDyne: Intellectual Property Cloem S.A.S.U. of Cannes, France, is offering a service for patent-seekers that theoretically might enable them to expand the number and reach of their patent claims through the use of natural language processing algorithms. Cloem said on its website that it combines human claim-drafting expertise with computational linguistics to create what it calls “technical poems” — cloems, for short — patent claims that are both human and machine creations. The company said it uses dictionaries and ontologies, and more than 100 proprietary claim-drafting algorithms, to create these claims. The computer-generated claims can be published to keep potential competitors from attempting to file adjacent patent claims, Cloem said. The cloems can potentially be prior art used to invalidate others’ claims. The company’s website didn’t identify any people who make up Cloem. “We are a team of passionate patent engineers and computer linguistics scientists,” it said. “Our exact names are not disclosed for now, because we want to remain focused on the development of our technology and avoid external perturbations.” PepsiCo Seeks Patent for Granola Bars Containing Fizzy Candy PepsiCo Inc.
