Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands by Chris Bohjalian Emily Shepard is the 16 year old protagonist who is homeless as a result of a nuclear plant cataclysmic meltdown where both of her parents were killed. Her father who worked at the plant is being blamed for the incident and Emily becomes the target for people’s anger. It is compassionate, provocative and sometimes terrifying but loved Emily’s fortitude and felt transported by Bohjalian’s masterful creation. May not be for everyone but I loved it.
