Close friends know that my best Book in the Holy Bible remains Exodus. It is where the impossible became possible. But I love reading the Book of Esther, largely because of its lessons for anyone in a leadership position or aspiring to become a leader. The major lesson in Esther is not about Gods mercy, which He can display no matter the might of the other person. Remember, the heart of the king remains in His Hands and he can direct it wheresoever He wills like the course of a river. It also goes beyond a child (Esther) being obedient to her elders (Mordecai). For me, the major lesson of the Book of Esther is for those in high positions to watch their behaviours. Once you misbehave, youll lose your crown, marriage, relationship, fame, etc. You need to constantly put yourself in the shoes of the other side to get a clearer view of issues. Do not jump to conclusions before getting the full picture. And do not allow familiarity to cloud your sense of proportion, leading you to misbehave towards those who can remove you from a lofty height. King Xerxes and King Herod were in high spirits induced by wine, when - separated by hundreds of years - each took monumental decision that affected lives till this day. The only difference was that, while Xerxes sought counsel and took the right decision, Herod did not, and ended up killing a righteous man - John. Step back, a bit. Think. And, do pray before taking that action. May the counsel of the Most High be yours in times of critical decision-making IJN!
