Club Statement: Following legal advice, the board of Madison Judo - TopicsExpress

Club Statement: Following legal advice, the board of Madison Judo has unanimously decided to establish the club as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The coaches already volunteer their time, and all membership and mat fees are put towards essential expenses and new mats. As a non-profit organization, Madison Judo will have increased flexibility to ensure that club members are well served. This includes seeking additional sources of revenue such as sports grants and donors. Such financial support will help the club continue to thrive and to promote judo for the benefit of its members and the sport in the United States. Currently, the board consists of the coaches plus a parent representative. An important aspect of becoming a non-profit organization is that all club members will have representation via an elected board. When the transition to non-profit status is complete, the current formation of the board will likely change to better represent the democratic spirit that the club wishes to embrace. This is a major step forward in the development of the club and if you have any comments or suggestions, please pass them on via a coach or email: info@madisonjudo Further information will be posted as it becomes available.
