Coach Randy Taylor s Take On Creative Recruiting Tactics “I’ve had the opportunity to put together the entire correspondence plan for a D1 program and nothing surprises me in the competition to catch a prospects eye. But I will say the idea of having a drawing of the athlete in your team’s jersey is a new one on me and I congratulate the Dawgs for coming up with it. Everyone is trying to stand out to get a prospects attention like Oregon with the uniforms, the regal football facilities at many schools and creative and clever mailings. Why not, that’s what kids respond to. These efforts are easy to produce it just takes money. Unfortunately not many universities can afford these things. Not long ago the NCAA loosened it’s restrictions on this type of marketing I’m wondering what trick will get them to rethink this. Finally, parents need to help their kids see through all this hype and choose a school because of its academics and what it can do for the young persons future. Will receiving 100 handwritten notes from one school help a young man become a great leader in his community or a good father?” Yesterday SB Nation shared, University of Georgia’s Head Coach, Mark Richt’s creative recruiting tactics by sharing his illustrations of each recruit Georgia is trying to recruit.
