Coach had 2 hard workouts today by the Occupational and Physical Therapist. He doesnt like taking medicine and I told him once the pain increases, he cannot catch up .Additionally, pain increases blood pressure and makes the heart pump harder. He is now listening bc I give him his meds around the clock. I took him way back in time talking about the SHHS and Schenley Basketball Championship Game at the Civic Arena. Snow was on the ground, Schenley won by 2 points. Their students were snowballing SHHS students. I was enforcing our students to get on the bus telling Schenley students they had better not hit me. My co-worker ran and hid on the bus. Coach was laughing at me looking like a half -pint- in the giants face. I told him Daniel slew Goliath and I had to say my peace. Do you SHHS students remember playing Erie Prep and they broke out windows on our bus? It seems the City Leagues had to contend with police dogs, the police and the opponents. All in all these were fun days. Coach and I ended up teaching at Schenley until I was requested to go to Letsche. My front tooth was absessed, I told my Letsche students Coach knocked it out. I forgot to say I was joking. He was so mad at me when some who already thought he was mean asked him about it. I had to clean it up. Coach has one line humor and sometimes you miss it. He asked me to help check his papers on human anatomy. The question was to explain the scrotum and someone had written nut and bolt. We laughed until we cried. That became a household joke. He couldnt wait to see that student the next day. As you can tell, I am probably getting on his nerves, but I am trying to have him focus on the best times of his life, I played We ARE FAMILY which was his SHHS theme song for track Truth is they were family!. I began to dance and he laughed. I accomplished my mission for today. Have a blessed day everyone.
