Coastal Waters Wind Warning For coastal waters from Torres Strait to Cooktown and from Noosa Heads to Point Danger. Issued at 10:25 am EST on Sunday 9 June 2013 Synoptic Situation A high [1030 hPa] over the western Tasman Sea will move slowly east over the next couple of days and weaken. The high extends a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast. A southeasterly change over far southern Queensland waters is expected to move only very slowly northwards today before decaying on Monday. Strong Wind Warning Torres Strait to Cooktown Southeasterly winds 25 to 30 knots. Seas 3 metres outside the reef. East to southeasterly swell 1.5 to 2 metres outside the reef. Strong Wind Warning Noosa Heads to Point Danger Expect southeasterly winds to reach 25 to 30 knots at times offshore. Seas reaching 3 metres offshore. Southeasterly swell 1.5 metres. CANCELLED Strong Wind Warning Cooktown to Bowen Winds are no longer expected to exceed 25 knots. The next warning will be issued by 5 pm EST.
