Codiac Transpo recognizes National Environment Week MONCTON – In celebration of National Environment Week, Codiac Transpo will be offering free service from Monday, June 2 to Wednesday, June 4 (National Clean Air Day), to encourage residents to renew or begin a commitment to sustainable transportation. As such, the tri-community is encouraging citizens to try an alternative mode of transportation. Customers can connect to the public transit system to travel across the Greater Moncton region with their bicycles, as all buses are equipped with bike racks. New passengers can also try out the ‘Bus Catcher’ trip planning tool to become familiar with the Codiac Transpo routes, most of which have 30 minute frequency throughout the day. One busload of passengers takes 40 vehicles off the road. This saves 70,000 liters of fuel, 175 tons of carbon dioxide emissions and nine tons of pollutants per year. As the transportation sector is a major contributor of air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions, citizens are encouraged to leave their vehicles at home and try Codiac Transpo.
