Cody update: Its now been over 10 long months since his accident in Scottsdale, Arizona. There has been a lot going on in the past few weeks. Cody is makin some great progress. And I have been dealing with a lot of thing. From he attorneys in Phoenix and the prosecutor ad the defense arguing with how the blood was tested and the driver ago hit Cody has only spent the one week in jail right after the accident. He has been able to go to work and enjoy his life. And also please not guilty. So bit only is that a huge mess. But a stress to say the least most people think Im only dealing with Cody on a daily basis which should be enough. But then now Im having to deal also with attorneys here in Kansas for this guardianship on Cody. Besides all that keeping me distracted. My focus is and always will be Cody. We have been doing great in therapy gettig stronger by the day. Some days he isnt as willing but most of the time he is ready to go. He has been wide awake for weeks now with all of his therapy staying up in his chair more. E is starting to help dress himself and even brushed his teeth a little for me a few times also for OT..he combed his hair for me. Once you show him and tell him to do it he will. He has now been eating soft foods and only with ST Im allowed to give him ice chips. He has been taking the spoon when you hand it to him and feeding himslef left handed he has been holding his own head up now for several weeks with out much help. And I brush his teeth and provide his oral care. And he does help some. He has been standing up with help and even will pivot and sit down. He also has walked with help and will throw a basket ball into the basketry himself and throw a football all with his left hand. Will point at times when something is not right and tries to tell us by moving him mouth and shaking his hand and times he gets frustrated because we dont understand what he is trying to tell us. Then he shows us..this is on and off and not always consistent but he is getting to where he is doing it more and more.all of this is huge progress for him... As you know he has been doing tracea trial and has been struggling with that more and more. Turning red almost gasping for air. So we have tried getting him though it and he has just been getting exausted. So I called his ENT and he tols me to call and get him into a pulminologist So u called and they cant see him until Jan. 3rd. so i scheduled it anyway. Then on Thursday his head of respiratory came in and tried to change out his trachea and it was stuck and started bleeding. So she said it wasnt sonthing she was comfortable with a we needed to get him into a Pulmonilogist and in the next few weeks so we couldnt wait that long. So I asked her if we could just take him to the ER. Then they have to see him. She was gonna give it some thought. So yesterday they came and got me and we called and no one could get him in sooner so I asked them if we could take him to the ER. I wanted to get this checked. And there was probably scar tissue growing around the trachea. So they had to ask Head of respiratory and nursing finally we are going to the ER.. And they kept him and decided to do surgery and take his trachea out and exchange it then scipe him and see what they find. We left at 10am finally at 5:20 pm they took him into surgery. And at 8:30 we got to his room he surgery took less than an hour but I had to wait for him in recovery fr over 2 hours.. So after the surgery which went well they found he has granule tissue build up around his trachea and he is breathing out of a hole the size of a pen maybe. So his airway is obstructed and could be very dangerous. So now we are at Olathe med still and will now stay here until Monday. And the doctors Ent specialist just came in and said Cody will have to go to Ku to have the surgery they will need a special laser. And they are the only ones who have it and he will go to a larnyologist to have this surgery. Its a little scary as there are a lot of blood vessels in that area. Its way to risky for them to do the surgery here. Prayers for Cody that this one thing will get fixed and he an be back in his road to recovery. More in the surgery next week. God bless you Cody Allan Clark...Mom loves you. Please keep the prayers coming. We need them. God is with us on this journey.!!
