I shall never dishonor the love that we share by saying, Enough! There is never enough. Never enough time, Never enough closeness, Never enough soft kisses and caresses, And I shall never stop wanting more with you -- But I shall not shut my heart with protective desires To seal out pain from losing your touch And thus dishonor the Beauty we shared. No, that would be only to seal in the pain, To wither and die to life And to disregard those of your brethren waiting -- As you once waited -- For help, for a home, for life To come and save them from eternal death.
