Coffee Talk CBB and Your Farm’s Health March 13, 2014 9:00 am - 11:00 am COFFEE TALK! Thursday, March 13, 2014- 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Kona Cooperative Extension Service-Kainaliu UH-CTAHR’s Risk Management Hawaii (RMH) program will be co-hosting a Coffee Talk-story session with the Kona Coffee Farmers Association (KCFA) about CBB and farm health. CBB is a major production, financial and marketing risk that coffee growers on the Big Island have been battling since its arrival in 2010. Education is a key component to increasing growers’ knowledge of this major pest and the techniques used to control CBB. While actively managing CBB, farm health can be neglected due to financial and time constraints. KCFA’s Suzanne Shriner and CTAHR’s Coffee and Orchard Crops Extension Agent, Andrea Kawabata will be facilitating this talk-story session and teaching farmers about the most current techniques to managing CBB and answering general questions about improving or maintaining farm health. Good farming practices can include field sanitation, pruning, pest and disease control, fertilization, and irrigation. Proper use and application
