Coincidence??? In 1891, William Wrigley Jr. began selling soap in Chicago. To increase sales, he gave away gum to his customers. When his gum became a hit, he decided to make and sell gum... In 1876, the Chicago White Stockings(Cubs) became one of eight charter members of the National League. In 1882, they allowed the selling of beer and playing games on Sunday. When beer became such a big hit, the Cubs decided to stop playing baseball! That was around 1908!
