Cold spell continues in Kashmir, Leh coldest place in J&K SRINAGAR, November 18: Cold wave continued unabated in Jammu and Kashmir where Leh, in Ladakh region, was recorded to be the coldest place in the state, while the night temperature in Srinagar remained below the freezing point for the seventh consecutive night, a MeT Department official said here. Srinagar, registered a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, a slight drop from the last nights minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, a MeT Department official said here. He said the minimum temperature in Srinagar continues to remain below the normal for this part of the season. Leh town, recorded a low of minus 11.2 degrees Celsius as compared to yesterdays minus 10.6 degrees Celsius, he said, adding the town in the frontier region of Ladakh continues to be the coldest recorded place in the state. Pahalgam, was the coldest place in the Valley as the mercury settled at minus 3.6 degrees Celsius as against the last nights minus 3.5 degrees Celsius. Famous ski-resort of Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 0.4 degree Celsius as compared to last nights minus 1.5 degrees Celsius. Qazigund, the gateway town to Kashmir Valley, and Kokernag, in south Kashmir, registered a slight improvement in the night temperatures as the minimum settled at minus 2.0 degrees Celsius and 1.2 degrees Celsius respectively. The night temperature in the north Kashmir town of Kupwara fell to minus 2.9 degrees Celsius as compared to the previous nights minus 2.1 degrees Celsius, the official said. The MeT Department has forecast mainly dry weather across Kashmir division over the next 24 hours. M.T
