Colin Howard of the Minehead Station Shop has been able to confirm that the team working to build LMS “Patriot” 45551 “The Unknown Warrior” will have their sales and publicity stand on the platform at Minehead during the Spring Steam Gala. This project which will recreate one the classes of mainline express steam locomotive built for the London, Midland and Scottish of which no example made it into preservation has reached the point where a rolling chassis with smokebox and cab above it was exhibited at the Warley Show in November. This will not feature at the gala but if the project gets enough support maybe at some date in the future we will see the fully working engine?
